Home addition with matched roofline and new glazing

Home Additions

More house, without the seam.

Overview

An addition succeeds when nobody can tell where the original house ends. That requires matching structure, roofline, floor height and material language — not just adding square footage.

Additions live or die at the connection. Floor levels have to align, the roof has to tie in without creating a valley that will fail, and the new envelope has to meet the old one in a way that keeps water out permanently.

We survey the existing structure carefully, design the connection first, and reinforce the original framing where the new loads demand it.

Inside, we carry the existing trim profiles, floor direction and ceiling heights through so the new rooms feel original to the house.

What's Included

The full scope.

  • 01Feasibility, setback and zoning review
  • 02Foundation and structural design coordination
  • 03Framing and roof tie-in
  • 04Envelope, windows and exterior finish matching
  • 05Mechanical, electrical and plumbing extension
  • 06Interior finish matched to the existing house
  • 07Site restoration and grading

Why It Matters

What you get out of it.

  • Roof and envelope tie-ins detailed to prevent long-term water issues
  • Floor heights and trim carried through from the original house
  • Existing structure reinforced for new loads
  • The house stays livable through most of the build

Cost and duration depend entirely on the property, the scope and the selections. We give you a real number after we have seen the house — never before.

Typical Process

How this kind of project runs.

  1. 01

    Feasibility

We confirm what the lot, the setbacks and the existing structure will allow before design begins.

  2. 02

    Design

The addition is drawn together with the connection detail — roof, floor and envelope resolved as one.

  3. 03

    Build

Foundation, framing, dry-in, then finish, with the existing house kept weather-tight throughout.

  4. 04

    Integration

Trim, flooring and paint are carried across the join so the addition reads as original.
